Złoty Potok by electric bike
Złoty Potok lies in the Wiercica valley, in the heart of the Jura. A palace, a park, ponds and one of the oldest trout farms in continental Europe — all within reach of one of our routes.
About
Złoty Potok is a village in the Wiercica river valley, known for the historic Raczyński palace and the neighbouring wooden Krasiński manor, where the poet Zygmunt Krasiński stayed in the summer of 1857 (now a museum). The estate belonged in turn to the Krasiński and Raczyński families.
The Wiercica valley holds the Parkowe nature reserve — with ponds (some named by Zygmunt Krasiński after his works, such as Staw Irydion), the springs of the Wiercica and Jurassic rock outcrops, among them Brama Twardowskiego, one of the most famous rock arches of the Jura. A trout farm founded here in 1881 by Edward Raczyński is one of the oldest in continental Europe.
Getting there by bike
Złoty Potok is a point on our Dolina Szeptów route (38.4 km) — a loop from our Olsztyn base south down the Wiercica valley and back. It is a medium-difficulty route, mostly forest tracks and gravel, so leave it for a day after the easier Trop Wilka.
The route does not enter the palace park — you leave the bike by the road and explore the rest on foot. Along the way you also pass Brama Twardowskiego, a limestone rock arch in the Parkowe reserve.
The electric assist shrinks the distance in feel — the Jura climbs stop being an obstacle. You ride alone by GPS, at your own pace; a helmet and lock are included in the rental.
