Trail of the Eagles’ Nests by electric bike
The Trail of the Eagles’ Nests links Jurassic strongholds set on limestone outcrops between Kraków and Częstochowa. Our base stands at the foot of one of them — Olsztyn Castle.
About
The Trail of the Eagles’ Nests (Szlak Orlich Gniazd) is one of the most recognisable routes in the Polish Jura. It runs through a chain of medieval castles and watchtowers nicknamed “eagles’ nests” for their position on rocky heights.
Among the strongholds are the ruins of Olsztyn Castle and the castles at Mirów and Bobolice. The landscape is a mosaic of limestone outcrops, forests, valleys and open fields.
Riding the trail by bike
Our base is at the foot of Olsztyn Castle — one of the eagles’ nests. The trail is on your doorstep: rent an e-bike and ride straight to the walls.
The easiest start is Trop Wilka (24.7 km), a loop from below the castle around the nearby outcrops. For a longer day, Dolina Szeptów (38.4 km) leads deeper into the Jurassic valleys.
Routes towards the further castles of the trail, including Mirów and Bobolice, are in preparation — watch the trails section. On every loop you ride alone by GPS; a helmet and lock are included, and the electric assist opens the trail to anyone.
