Olsztyn Castle by electric bike
The ruins of a medieval royal castle rise above Olsztyn near Częstochowa. Our base sits right at its foot — you cannot start closer.
About
Olsztyn Castle is the ruin of a medieval royal stronghold on a limestone outcrop above the village. Its cylindrical tower is visible from far away and is one of the symbols of the Polish Jura (Jura Krakowsko-Częstochowska).
The castle lies on the Trail of the Eagles’ Nests — a chain of strongholds built on Jurassic rock outcrops between Kraków and Częstochowa. The ruins are open to visitors and the hill is a natural viewpoint over the surrounding rocks and fields.
Getting there by bike
It does not get simpler — our base stands at the foot of the ruins, at ul. Jodłowa 1. You rent an e-bike and your first metres are literally under the castle walls.
Our easiest loop, Trop Wilka (24.7 km), starts here — the castle is its kilometre zero. The electric assist means the Jura climbs are no obstacle, so you reach the ruins regardless of fitness. For a longer day, Dolina Szeptów (38.4 km) also begins and ends below the castle.
A helmet and a lock are included in the rental; you ride alone, following the ready-made GPS route, at your own pace.
